Bachelor Nation-one of your OG faves, Ali Fedotowsky, just spilled some tea that’s hotter than a Chris Harrison comeback rumor. The former Bachelorette recently revealed that her stint on The Ellen DeGeneres Show was less “LOL” and more “OMG, get me out of here!”
Now, in case you forgot (how dare you), Ali was The Bachelor Season 14 contestant who parlayed her heartbreak into leading Season 6 of The Bachelorette. That’s the glow-up blueprint. Fast forward to her post-reality TV life, and she found herself sitting across from Ellen, aka the queen of daytime TV sass.
But hold up—things didn’t go quite as expected.
On a recent episode of the Off The Vine podcast, Ali dished about her Ellen encounter. Spoiler: it wasn’t exactly a bonding moment over knock-knock jokes and mutual admiration.
“She wasn’t, like, mean-mean,” Ali clarified, immediately sending mean-mean into the pop culture lexicon where it will live forever next to “fetch” and “on fleek.” “But she definitely made me feel…well, let’s just say I wasn’t leaving there thinking, ‘Wow, I crushed it.’”
Apparently, Ali went on the show armed with her trademark charm and bubbly personality, ready to banter and maybe toss out a zinger or two. Instead, she felt like Ellen was less “You’re hilarious, let’s be besties” and more “Who let this girl out of The Bachelor mansion?”
“I was trying to be, like, funny and, like, personable,” Ali recounted. “But instead of laughing with me, Ellen was laughing at me. Do you know what I mean?”
We absolutely know what you mean, Ali. It’s like when you tell a joke at a party, and someone’s like, “Oh, that’s cute,” instead of laughing, and suddenly you’re rethinking every life choice you’ve ever made.
Ali wrapped up her tale with some grace, acknowledging that Ellen wasn’t a total villain in this story. “I don’t think she’s a bad person,” she said, diplomatically sidestepping any potential daytime TV feuds. “But maybe after doing this job for years, she was just kind of over it.”
Fair point. Hosting a talk show for almost two decades could make anyone feel like they’re living in a Groundhog Day loop. Still, maybe lay off the “making people feel stupid” bit, Ellen? Just a thought.
A classic case of “I went in expecting a high-five and left feeling like a punchline.” Hang in there, Ali. If nothing else, you’ve got an anecdote that’s way more interesting than another story about handing out roses.
