Paul Walter Hauser isn’t holding back when it comes to Vin Diesel.
While on the press tour for Disney-Pixar’s Inside Out 2, Paul, 37, threw some hilarious shade when a reporter dared to compare his voice role as Embarrassment to Vin’s iconic Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy.
“You’re basically Vin Diesel now,” the CinemaBlend reporter chimed in.
“Whoa there, cowboy. Let’s not get crazy. I like to think I’m punctual and approachable,” Paul retorted, causing his co-star Lewis Black and the reporter to burst into laughter.
Paul, ever the comedian, didn’t stop there. “I adore people, but when I hear about Hollywood actors who are raking in the big bucks and still manage to be jerks, I call them out. It’s my cardio.”
Lewis, 75, chimed in with his signature deadpan delivery, “Yeah, it’s just awful.”
Vin Diesel, the man of many “family” speeches, has a bit of a reputation for showing up fashionably late to set, which apparently didn’t sit well with Fast & Furious co-star Dwayne Johnson. And let’s not forget the time last year when Vin was accused of sexual assault by a former assistant.
So, next time you hear Vin say, “I am Groot,” just remember, Paul Walter Hauser might be out there somewhere, clocking his tardiness and dishing out some hilarious truth bombs.
