Chet Hanks is back in the spotlight with a brand-new music video, and spoiler alert: Tom Hanks makes a cameo that’ll make you feel like you’ve found the last chocolate in the box!
Our favorite Hanks offspring, who’s somehow a mix of actor, musician, and guy-who-can’t-escape-his-dad’s-shadow, teamed up with his buddy Drew Arthur (who totally didn’t need to sign up for this adventure) to bring us “You Better Run,” a music video that screams “Forrest Gump” louder than a box of chocolates that just spilled everywhere.
In this 34-year-old wonderland of creativity, Chet channels his inner Forrest by dressing up as his pop’s legendary character (cue the heartwarming music and the slow clap). They’re not just playing music; they’re performing on a shrimp fishing boat named Jenny! Yes, folks, it’s the shrimping business you never knew you needed in your life. And of course, let’s not forget the classic Nike Cortez sneakers—because if you’re not running, you’re just walking, and that’s simply not an option!
As the video rolls, you’ll be treated to a montage of Chet running like he just spotted a squirrel in the park. Seriously, it’s like he’s auditioning for the next Olympic sprint—move over, Usain Bolt! The lyrics are a whirlwind of urgency, proclaiming: “You better run / Like the devil’s on your tail / Like you broke out of jail / Like a big storm’s coming / Run, like a wild mustang / Like a bullet train.” Because who hasn’t felt like a runaway mustang during rush hour?
But the cherry on top? At one point, Tom Hanks himself plops down on that iconic bench, making us all wonder if life really is like a box of chocolates. Spoiler alert: it totally is, especially when your dad is a Hollywood legend.
And while we’re all eagerly anticipating Something Out West’s debut EP, Leaving Hollywood, dropping on June 20, we’re just going to run (or maybe stroll) with this video on repeat. Because who doesn’t want a little more Hanks in their life? 🏃♂️🍫🎶
