In a move that surprises absolutely no one, the network has officially dumped the entire project. Cue the sad trombone. Yep, according to the ever-reliable TV Line, The CW has hit the delete button on their grand redo of the beloved animated series.

But wait, there’s more! It turns out that this is just the tip of the iceberg. The network’s new overlords and management are going all out and tossing several other projects into the scrap heap too. It’s like a demolition derby for dreams!

First on the chopping block is David Ramsey’s Justice U series. So long, Justice U! We hardly knew ye. Then there’s the female-led Zorro, a daring attempt to give the iconic character a fresh twist. Adiós, señorita Zorro. And last but not least, a Jake Chang series based on an Archie Comics character. Sorry, Jake, but it seems your time in the limelight has been dimmed.

In an interview with TVLine, Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment, dropped the bombshell news. He casually mentioned that they’ve already returned those forsaken projects back to the studios, effectively giving them the freedom to shop their rejected babies around elsewhere. Talk about a one-way ticket to Development Hell!

Now, let’s not forget the Powerpuff Girls series. Our dear Chloe Bennet, who was slated to be part of the sugary-sweet trio, bid farewell to the project back in August 2021 due to some pesky scheduling conflicts. Little did she know that her departure would foreshadow the impending doom of the whole shebang.

After filming an original pilot, The CW took one look at it and said, “Nah, we can do better.” They went back to square one, hoping to create a series that would soar like a superhero, but alas, their attempt fell faster than a bird with clipped wings. It was a swing and a miss, folks. A big, fat, “What were they thinking?” kind of miss.

Now, here’s the silver lining, or should I say the tin-foil cape? While these poor projects are six feet under at The CW, there’s a slim glimmer of hope that they might find a new home elsewhere. But, let’s be honest, the chances of that happening are about as likely as you sprouting wings and flying off to the moon. In other words, don’t hold your breath.

So, grab your tissues and wipe away those tears, my friends, because it seems our dreams of seeing these projects come to life on The CW have been swiftly extinguished. But fear not! In the ever-spinning wheel of television, new ideas are constantly being cooked up. Who knows what hilarious disasters or unexpected triumphs lie ahead? It’s a wild world out there, and the show must go on, even if it stumbles and falls along the way.
