22-year-old ‘Gringo’ actress Paris Jackson is opening up about self-harm and depression.
In a new episode of her Facebook Watch show ‘UNFILTERED: Paris Jackson & Gabriel Glenn,’ the spawn of late music legend Michael Jackson reveals: “I would cut and burn myself. I never thought that I would die from it because I was the one that was in control with the razor. I knew how deep I was going, and it was kind of, part of it was the dopamine release.” Paris says that she began to cut herself after gaining weight during her teenage years following the death of her grandma Katherine Jackson. Paris says that the cutting was a “distraction from emotional pain,” and she reveals that she even tried to kill herself “many times” before going to a therapeutic boarding school in Utah. Paris explains: “The problems I went there for got fixed, but I left there with many more.”
Paris also reveals that she stopped taking medication that helped with her mental state, saying that she prefers to ‘feel’ than be numb. She says: “For me, my depression comes in waves, so even though the lows are unbearably low, I would still rather [feel] that than nothing. Pain is way better than numb because at least you’re feeling something…” Watch her interview below and let us know what you think:
