66-year-old former ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ host Oprah Winfrey, loves ‘The Color Purple’ i.e. the movie adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel she starred in in 1985 by Steven Spielberg. Now Oprah and Spielberg will be turning the 2015 Broadway revival of ‘The Color Purple’ into a full-fledged movie, directed by Blitz Bazawule.
Bazawule co-directed Beyonce’s visual-album ‘Black is King’ for Disney Plus, and will be directing ‘The Color Purple’ for Warner Bros. Other producers contributing to the film include Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones. Oprah says in a statement about the upcoming film: “We, were all blown away by Blitz’s unique vision as a director and look forward to seeing how he brings the next evolution of this beloved story to life.”
