Miley Cyrus’ new album, Endless Summer Vacation, is a mix of sexy love songs and fiery tracks about breakups. One of the standout breakup songs is “Muddy Feet,” where Miley vents her anger towards an unnamed ex who cheated on her. The song starts off strong, with Miley singing, “I don’t know who the hell you think you’re messing with, get the f*** out of my house with that s***, get the f*** out of my life with that s***.”
In the chorus, Miley reveals that the subject of the song cheated on her and even hints that the person did it in their own home. She sings, “And you smell like perfume that I didn’t purchase. Now I know why you’ve been closing the curtains.” Miley is ready to take action and confront her partner in the chorus, saying she’s “ready to do something ’bout it” when they keep “comin’ ’round with muddy feet.”
The other breakup song on the album, “Jaded,” is a more reflective track where Miley looks back on a past relationship and acknowledges that it’s a shame it ended the way it did. In the bridge, she admits that moving on is difficult, singing, “I won’t lie, it won’t be easy when somebody new is on your body. I’ll change my number but keep your t-shirt, I don’t mind if it’s torn up and faded.”
In the first verse, Miley apologizes to an ex for something she did wrong, but in the second verse, she points out that they were both at fault. The ex would go to the bar to try and solve their problems, which only made things worse. Miley sings, “You’re not even willing to look at your part, you just jump in the car and head down to the bar ’til you’re blurry. Don’t know when to stop, so you take it too far, I don’t know where you are and I’m left in the dark ’til I’m worried.”
Although Miley doesn’t confirm who the breakup songs are about, there has been speculation that they are about her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. Fans noticed several hints in the song and music video for “Flowers,” which Miley released earlier this year. Miley and Liam split in 2019 after eight months of marriage, and she is currently dating Maxx Morando. She has also dated Cody Simpson and Kaitlynn Carter, who could also be potential subjects for any of the breakup tracks on the album.
