Liam Payne and Niall Horan just gave us the reunion we didn’t know we needed—like a boy band version of “Avengers: Endgame,” but with fewer superpowers and more awkward dance moves.
Liam, everyone’s favorite “Teardrops on my pillow because I’m so handsome” crooner, decided to take a trip to Argentina, but not for the beef or tango—oh no. He had a far nobler mission: catch his old One Direction pal Niall “Heaven Can Wait, I’m a Pop Star” Horan in concert. Naturally, he dragged along his girlfriend Kate Cassidy for moral support, because what’s a nostalgia trip without a plus-one to laugh at your 2010 hair choices?
Once there, Liam became the unofficial documentarian of the event, snapping pics like a proud parent at a high school talent show. Snapchat was his medium of choice—because apparently, nothing says “I was in the biggest boy band on the planet” like using the same app your little cousin sends dog-face selfies on. He captured everything: Kate swaying awkwardly, him swaying awkwardly, and then, surprise—Niall, decidedly not swaying awkwardly, on stage doing his thing.
“So proud,” Liam gushed over a clip of Niall. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the distant sound of thousands of Directioners screaming, “WE KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN.”
Then, in a plot twist no one expected, Liam took the mic (or maybe just his phone) and serenaded us with his own rendition of “Night Changes,” tweaking the lyrics to reflect Niall’s solo career. Imagine a remix where he sings, “Does it ever drive you crazy, just how far you’ve come since you ditched me and the lads?” A tear may or may not have been shed.
But wait—there’s more! After the show, the duo snapped some photos, standing side by side, smiling like two guys who’ve just remembered how much they’ve missed making millions together. Liam captioned one of the pics “Reunited” with a red heart emoji because bromance isn’t dead, it’s just been napping since 2016.
Oh, and before the show? Liam teased that there were some “things to square up” with Niall. Probably just friendly banter, but I like to imagine they had a heated debate backstage over who wore the suspenders better in 2012.
All in all, this was less of a reunion and more of a public service. So, thank you, Liam and Niall, for giving us the boy band content we’ve been secretly craving. We’ll be over here, listening to “What Makes You Beautiful” on repeat, pretending it’s 2010 again.
