Lana Del Rey, queen of moody anthems and the melancholic gaze, just dropped some rare pearls of wisdom about her husband, Jeremy Dufrene—a man who sounds like he’s straight out of a swampy rom-com—and gave a heartfelt shoutout to her unofficial love guru, Jack Antonoff.
The 39-year-old Young and Beautiful songstress shocked fans earlier this year when she married Jeremy, a Louisiana-born alligator hunter and tour guide, proving that love truly is blind (or maybe just really into camouflage). The wedding was so private it might as well have been held in Narnia. We only found out about their romance a month before they said, “I do.”
Fast forward to this weekend at Variety’s Hitmakers Brunch (where celebs gather to eat overpriced avocado toast), and Lana got real about her love life. Spoiler alert: It’s both romantic and relatable in a “Will I ever find someone who’s not a red flag?” kind of way.
Jack Antonoff: From Producer of the Decade to Love Doctor
Taking the stage to celebrate Jack Antonoff’s shiny new Producer of the Decade title, Lana decided it was also the perfect time to credit him for her newfound wedded bliss. Apparently, Jack’s relationship with actress Margaret Qualley gave Lana major heart-eyes and the courage to wait for her own perfect person.
“I watched Jack look at Margaret like she was the last piece of pizza at a party, and I thought, ‘I want that,’” Lana gushed. “He’s a big reason I held out for someone as amazing as Jeremy. And by ‘amazing,’ I mean someone who can wrestle a gator and my heart.”
The Singer’s Curse (and How Lana Broke It)
Lana also spilled the beans on how tough it can be to find love when you’re a big deal. “It’s like there’s this singer’s curse. You want someone who isn’t trying to slide into your industry connections but also doesn’t think you’re a soulless diva. It’s a lot!”
She added, “Jack somehow made people see me for who I really am: someone who cries at dog commercials and probably has a secret Pinterest board full of cottagecore wedding ideas.”
Love in the Time of Alligator Tours
So, what’s next for Lana and her gator-wrangling Romeo? Hopefully, a reality show where Jeremy takes Lana on romantic swamp tours while she serenades the alligators. In the meantime, we’ll just be over here, Googling “how to find a Jeremy Dufrene” and thanking Jack Antonoff for being the unintentional patron saint of celebrity love stories.
And who knows? Maybe Lana’s next album will be titled Born to Be a Bayou Bride. Stay tuned!
Lana Del Rey says Jack Antonoff is a "big reason why I waited so long to get married and why I met my amazing husband. And I really feel like there's kind of a singer's curse around meeting an honest partner who has no skin in the game, no dog in the race, and it's super… pic.twitter.com/PHA3Pozpic
