Country star Morgan Wade, 29, and pop wild child Kesha, 37, have joined forces to deliver a ballad that will have you questioning every life decision you’ve ever made. The new track, titled “Walked on Water,” is part of Morgan’s latest album, Obsessed, which conveniently dropped on Friday, August 16, just in time for all of us to cry into our weekend plans.
In this tear-jerker of a tune, Morgan kicks things off by reminding us that life is just one big emotional rollercoaster without seatbelts. “I fell off the Earth, I fell out of touch / I’m fightin’ every urge to go out and get drunk,” she sings, basically describing every Monday morning ever. But don’t worry, it gets better (or worse, depending on your emotional stability). Morgan continues, “Hit my plug for some pills, for insomnia / When I’m awake, I’m just thinkin’ of us / But we aren’t the same, I wish you well / As you’re prayin’ to God that I just burn in hell.” So, you know, just your average light-hearted love song.
But wait, there’s more! Enter Kesha, the queen of glitter and heartbreak. She swoops in with her verse like the ghost of relationships past, belting out, “I thought we’d get married, move to the beach / But like everything I said, it’s just smoke and dreams.” Ouch. That line probably stung more than the time you stubbed your toe on the coffee table. And if that wasn’t enough to tug at your heartstrings, she adds, “And I’m layin’ in this bed, ain’t makin’ love / I might lose to myself, hell, I might just give up.” Someone hand this girl a hug, stat!
In other news, if you somehow missed it, Kesha recently celebrated her mega-hit “TiK ToK” hitting a billion streams. A billion! That’s approximately the number of times we’ve all tried to perfect the messy glitter look she made famous.
So, if you’re ready to have all the feels, grab some tissues, put on your comfiest pajamas, and download “Walked on Water” from iTunes. Just be warned, this song might have you dramatically staring out of your window, pretending you’re in a music video. Listen below and prepare to feel all the emotions.
