28-year-old fashion blogger Danielle Bernstein from the blog WeWoreWhat, is being SLAMMED for blatant intellectual-property theft!
Bernstein requested samples of a patent-pending face mask from fashion label By Second Wind, owned by Latina designer Karen Perez. Bernstein then proceeded to completely knock-off the design of the masks, and sell them as originals from her blog. Bernstein’s masks and the masks designed by Perez both feature a detachable chain and identical fabric plus general design. Bernstein even went so far as to message Perez on Instagram alerting her that she would be selling masks too, but they wouldn’t be a “copy.”
Perez says in a statement about the blatant forgery: “I was really excited she liked our masks, I started it two weeks after the pandemic. I literally put my blood sweat and tears into it … she reached out to me to support me, why didn’t she tell me she was working on the same thing? She used the same kind of chain and the same fabric, and colors as me, that really upset me. When I saw her masks I was heartbroken … I am fed up, for me — as a woman and a minority … I have to stand up for myself. She’s a phony, she stands up for minorities, but she’s ripping us off, thinking we only have a tiny voice.” Take a look at the exchange between Bernstein and Perez below and let us know what you think:…IS SHE CRAZY?!
