Outer Banks heartthrob Drew Starkey is cashing in on a golden opportunity! The 31-year-old actor is officially joining the cast of Lucky, an upcoming Apple TV+ limited series that’s so star-studded, it might require sunglasses just to read about it.
Leading the charge is none other than Anya Taylor-Joy, aka “The Queen’s Gambit but Make It Fashion,” who is both starring in and executive-producing the series. Also throwing their Hollywood magic behind this project? Reese Witherspoon, because at this point, is it even a book adaptation if Reese isn’t involved?
The show’s VIP list doesn’t stop there! Academy Award nominee Annette Bening, powerhouse Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and the effortlessly cool Timothy Olyphant are also on board, proving that this cast could probably solve world peace if given the chance.
What’s *Lucky* All About?
Glad you asked. The series is based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel (and Reese’s Book Club pick—because of course it is). The story follows a young woman, Lucky (played by Taylor-Joy), who tried to leave behind her crime-riddled past for a life of… well, not crime. But in classic just-when-I-thought-I-was-out-they-pull-me-back-in fashion, she’s forced to dive back into her shady skill set one last time to escape her past. So, basically, think Ocean’s Eleven, but make it emotional damage.
And What About Drew?
Drew’s role is labeled a “major recurring role,” which is fancy TV talk for “you’re going to see a lot of him.” He’ll be playing Cary, Lucky’s husband, which means Outer Banks fans will get to watch their boy trade in beachy chaos for high-stakes drama.
When Can We Watch It?
Well, that’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Production kicks off this spring, but as for when we can actually binge-watch this masterpiece? Apple TV+ is keeping that info under lock and key. Classic.
Stay tuned, and in the meantime, maybe start brushing up on your own crime skills—y’know, just in case. 😏
