The one and only Drew Barrymore is set to take center stage as the host of the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards! That’s right, the Charlie’s Angels actress, who’s now 48 years young, will be bringing her A-game to the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles on Monday, May 8th.
Now, we know what you’re thinking: “Drew, who?” But let us tell you, this woman is an MTV legend! She’s been nominated for a total of nine MTV awards and has snatched up three Golden Popcorns along the way. Impressive, right?
According to Monde Twala, the Senior Vice President and General Manager at Paramount Africa, Drew is the perfect fit for the job. He said, “As a talented actress and producer, Drew embodies the spirit of the MTV brand with her creativity, energy, and passion for entertainment.” And let’s not forget her signature charm and wit, which are sure to make the show an unforgettable event for fans all over the world!
But, of course, this isn’t Drew’s first rodeo. She’s been in the entertainment game since she was just a wee little thing, thanks to Steven Spielberg casting her as Gertie in E.T.: The Extraterrestrial way back in 1982. And since then, she’s won herself a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Oh, and did we mention she was nominated for Best Talk/Topical Show at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted? Yeah, she’s kind of a big deal.
And while Drew’s had her fair share of struggles, including a battle with alcohol, her buddy Cameron Diaz has always been there to support her. In fact, she recently said that watching Drew deal with her demons was “difficult to watch.” But hey, we all have our stuff, right?
