The Dixie Chicks have officially changed their name, after 30 years!

The country band formed in 1989 have officially changed their Twitter handle to @thechicks as well as their website’s domain to thechicks.com…the move is probably the result of the backlash against white privilege that came after the death of George Floyd in police custody. “Dixie” is a common word used to reference the Southern United States, and mostly the Confederate states with deep histories of slavery and racism.

So the Dixie Chicks will now simply be…THE CHICKS. Their latest record titled ‘Gaslighter’ is set for release in under a month: July 17 2020…Let us know: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THEIR NEW NAME? DID THEY REALLY THINK DIXIE OFFENDED PEOPLE? WILL ANYONE RECOGNIZE THEM NOW? DID THEY HAVE TO DO IT SO CLOSE TO A NEW ALBUM RELEASE? FIRE SOMEONE FOR A BAD DECISION…
