$26,000 worth of valuables in John Legend’s luggage was stolen (together with the $5,000 black Louis Vuitton bag) by a cab driver after Legend landed at JFK this past Thursday.
Law enforcement sources say that the bag was left unattended at Terminal 4, and this let cabbie Augustin Hilario swoop in, pick it up, and LEAVE! Inside the bag were $25,000 Cartier cuff-links with green and clear stones, $500 sunglasses and almost $500 worth of clothing!
Legend noticed the bag was missing upon arriving at his hotel and he proceeded to call Delta and Port Authority Police. They viewed the surveillance footage and saw Hilario picking up the ‘Ordinary People’ singer’s expensive luggage! Hilario was well known to enforcement officials who then proceeded to charge the 63-year-old with grand larceny, attempted grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
