19-year-old Fifth Harmony member Camilla Cabello just penned an essay about what life was like growing up as an immigrant!
Published on POPSugar, the essay is titled ‘Our Dreams Were Bigger Than Our Fears.’ It details the hardships her mother faced whilst taking care of her, going to school, and working.
Cabello immigrated from Cuba to Miami with her family and she writes of her parents’ decision: “I didn’t realize it then, but, boy, does it hit me now. I realize how scary it must have been for them.” Camilla says that her mom made her believe that they were going to Disney world. Cabello goes on to describe the diversity in the US as well as take a stab at Donald Trump. She says: “And so, that’s why when I hear a bigoted, racist man with power and influence speak with anger and ill-will about immigrants, I think ‘what a fool.” Read the essay here.
