Aretha Franklin’s family is calling out Reverend Jasper Williams Jr. for delivering a very offensive eulogy at the late ‘Respect’ singer’s funeral.
Vaughn Franklin, Aretha’s nephew, says in an official statement from the family: “He spoke for 50 minutes and at no time did he properly eulogize her. His eulogy caught the entire family off guard. It has been very, very distasteful.”
During the ceremony when Williams said, “No, black lives do not matter,” singer Stevie Wonder yelled out from the back: “Black lives matter!” Watch Reverend Williams’ eulogy at Aretha Franklin’s funeral below and let us know: DO YOU THINK IT’S OFFENSIVE?
