The Marriott group of hotels may have just been owned by a disgruntled former employee!
Juan Rodriguez was reportedly fired last August and was apparently ordered to stay away from the company’s computer systems. However he didn’t and a few weeks later, hacked into the system and SLASHED room prices for almost 3,000 rooms and gave them away at steal prices! Rooms that normally sold between $159-$499 were being listed between $12-$59 per night.
Rodriguez was caught via his IP address – the IP he used for remote access matched the one in his home in NYC. He has since been charged with three felonies including computer trespassing and computer tampering! Let us know: would you book a room at the Marriott for $12 if you could?
