Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg says he asked Steve Jobs about how to build a high-quality team and great products, but denies Apple and Facebook ever talked about an acquisition even though Zuckerberg is frequently mentioned as a possible heir apparent to Jobs.
“I had a lot of questions for him,” Zuckerberg said in an interview with Charlie Rose that’s due to air today.
The topics included “how to build a team around you that’s focused on building as high quality and good things as you are.”
Before passing on on October 5 2011, Jobs viewed it as his responsibility to give advice to up-and-coming technology executives including Zuckerberg, according to his biography published last month.
The Apple co-founder said in interviews with the author, Walter Isaacson, that he admired the Facebook CEO for not “selling out.”
When Jobs lost a long time battle with pancreatic cancer, Zuckerberg paid tribute on his Facebook profile: “Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you.”
